March Towards a Peaceful Earth – Chennai, India

Project Description

October 2nd 2012 is a very special day all over the world as it is our beloved Father of our Nation, GANDHIJI’s Birthday! It looked more spectacular on that day because of the Peace March organized by the World Veg Council at Marina Beach.

Yes, on October 2nd, by 7.30 am we could see hundreds of volunteers from World Veg Council, Students and Rotary International gathering behind Gandhi Statue, Marina Beach, all geared up for the Peace March which was to start from Gandhi Statue to Kannagi Statue. This is to celebrate the International Day for Non Violence and commemorate Gandhiji’s Birthday and his ideology of Ahimsa.

The World Veg Council (formerly Indian Vegetarian Congress) organized this mega event propagating the Goodness of having Vegetarian Food instead of Non Vegetarian which has all the health benefits and also marching ahead towards a more peaceful earth! We could see the school students with placards carrying the message “Be a Vegetarian/ Eat Vegetarian Food/ Say NO to Meat/ Say Yes to Non Violence etc was indeed inspiring and captivating.

Around 700 people including children participated in this mega event which was flagged off by Former DGP and Present Tamil Nadu Public Service Commissioner Shri. R. Natraj and accompanied by Rtn.T. Tarachand Dugar – International President, GO Green Chairman – Rtn. Mythili Muralidharan and Rtn. V.S. Ravindran , President Rotary Club of Nanganallur. All the participants were given caps carrying the message “World Veg Council”. It was nice to see some young boys dressed up like Gandhiji and walked with all the participants at the Peace March!

Let’s say Yes to Vegetarian Food and No to Violence!
Let’s march towards a Peaceful Earth!
