International Youth Media Summit – Fanfare for the Future

Project Description

International Youth Media Summit

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to apply for the 9th International Youth Media Summit to be held in Southern California July 14-27, 2014. Join our family of dedicated, talented and passionate young filmmakers, artists, journalists and diplomats who shape the future through media and action.

This is the first time the Summit will be held in the U.S.A. since the first Summit in 2006. We will spend two weeks together at Soka University of America, a beautiful campus set on rolling hills near the Pacific Ocean. We’ll tour cultural institutions, Hollywood film studios and spend a Day-of-Service at local NGOs. Most importantly, we’ll create seven powerful films about the social issues that form the foundation of the IYMS mission. 1,000 people will see these films at the Closing Ceremony in the beautiful Soka Performing Arts Center.

This Summit’s theme is “Fanfare for the Future” and we’ll celebrate all the arts, which connect and inspire us. You’ll enjoy (maybe participate in!) a delegate talent show, view an Afghan student art exhibit and hear an inspiring performance by a California youth orchestra.

A “fanfare” alerts an audience that something great will follow. Over eight years, hundreds of students and their teachers from over 42 countries have been inspired by the Summit experience and created amazing projects that united young people and amplified their voices. Together we can achieve the impossible – we can create a more peaceful, just and healthy planet. Be part of something great – join us at the 9th International Youth Media Summit!
