International Day of Peace on 19th and 20th September in Taiping, Malaysia.

Project Description



The town of Taiping (which literally means “Everlasting Peace) celebrated the International Day of Peace for the 5th Year in Sucession. Just like last year we had The UN Resident for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, Her Excellency Michelle Gyles McDonnough as the Guest of Honour.

On 19th we had Peace Convoy of 100 participants coming from Kuala Lumpu r(350KM) and Penang(100KM) to join our celebration.

The Peace Dinner on the 19th also included the Cultural attached from Poland Embassy, Universal Peace Federation, Asia Pacific Head, all government heads of Department, 42 NGOs representative to witness the cultural Show, welcoming address by the Mayor of Taiping Town, listening to Peace message from UN Secretary General, and a speech by H.E. Michelle. More than 400 attended the dinner.

On 20th Morning we had Aerobics, Peace Cycling, Community Netball games, Archery, Peace Arts Exhibition, Children Peace Drawing Competition, Classic bicycles display, NGOs promoting peace community work exhibition booths.
