Guest Speakers Bureau

Project Description

Guest Speakers Bureau (an online resource serving area educators/students and civic organizations)

Project Title
Guest Speakers Bureau (an online resource serving area educators/students and civic organizations)
Project Description
We have formed a school-focused “Speakers Bureau” drawing from area Business Leaders, STEM Professionals, Veterans, Rotarians, Kiwanians, Elks and other civic-minded women and men, volunteers sharing their life experiences, willing to engage our Younger Generations.

NOTE: Personal information collected for the purpose of establishing a resource database for schools in the greater Vancouver-Portland area. Requests for speakers made through the Rotary Club of Three Creeks and/or the Community Military Appreciation Committee (CMAC). Volunteer speakers are specifically discouraged from bringing political biases into classrooms – unless specifically requested to do so per school or organizational guidelines.

The intent is to build a network of Role Models and Problem-Solvers to compliment the efforts of our area Educators. When feasible and appropriate to the subject matter, volunteers might be paired. Neither CMAC nor Rotary are conducting background checks beyond confirming asserted membership(s) in good standing with one or more civic organizations.

Project Description Excerpt
Civics has all but disappeared from public education. Rotarians, joining with like-minded professionals and veterans can support our educators by bringing life experiences into the classroom, and serving as role models.

Volunteers
At present, we have registered 35 volunteer guest speakers – all located within an approx. 50-mile radius of Portland, OR. As more Rotarians, veterans and other like-minded organizations (focused on youth) come on board, there really is no limit as this resource serves broader communities and gets replicated in other parts of the U.S. as well as wherever other Rotary and civic clubs are located.
Is there a Global Grant for this project?
No
Cosponsors
Community Military Appreciation Committee (CMAC) and similar veteran-supportive organizations; Kiwanis, Lions, Elks, and others similarly focused on youth.
