“From Polio to Peace” an Evening of Documentary Films at the Tower Theatre in Bend Oregon, 10-26-13.

Project Description

BE A PART OF HISTORY: ATTEND THE ROTARY IN FILM NIGHT “FROM POLIO TO PEACE”

The Rotary Club of Bend High Desert is pleased to present the Premier of Rotary in Film at the Tower Theatre this October 26 at 7 pm. Two very pressing issues facing the world: the eradication of the poliovirus from the face of the earth and the progression of the globe towards world peace will be presented in a series of documentary films. Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit Rotary, contributing to local and worldwide community service projects in the pursuit of peace.

Two feature films, “After the Rains, Pursuing Polio to the Ends of the Earth” and “A Feeling of Special Pride” will be interspersed with rotary film shorts of related topics.

Special Guest Speaker, Ezra Teshome, the Rotary District Governor from Washington state will address the audience during the 2-hour evening event. Ezra, having spent 12 years leading polio immunization teams throughout Ethiopia, will discuss the current Polio eradication end game, the relationship between conflict and the last three polio endemic countries, and the ways in which polio eradication can promote peace.

Help make history by attending this series of thought provoking films. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will match two-to-one your contributions to our END POLIO NOW campaign during the night’s events and speaker presentations. Learn how Rotary is promoting world peace through the creation of a global network of World Peace Fellows.
