People of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to express their commitment to peace and compassion during the ninth annual Peace Days Festival, which this year takes place September 11 to 21. “The Peace Days festival encompasses the United Nations’ International Day of Democracy (Sept. 15) and the International Day of Peace (Sept. 21), whose theme this year is ‘The Right to Peace,’” says David G. Newman, Q.C. and Director of the of the Rotary Club of Winnipeg Peace Builder Committee and lead organizer for Peace Days. “To highlight the Peace Days theme, we’re launching a social media campaign that invites everyone to share their thoughts on what ‘the right to peace’ means to them, using the hashtags, #PeaceDaysMB and #therighttopeace.
